The Price is right: UTC alum recognized as ‘Extraordinary Educator’

Amanda Price, a third-grade teacher at Taylor Elementary School in Cleveland, Tennessee, and a 2012 alumna of the UTC School of Education, was one of 30 national selections—and the only one from Tennessee—selected as Extraordinary Educators by Curriculum Associates.

Oh, Canada: Honors student Lake Best lands award to head north for summer research

Junior Lake Best, a Brock Scholar and communication major at UTC, was accepted into the Fulbright Canada Mitacs Globalink program—an international education experience under the Fulbright umbrella for U.S. students interested in traveling to Canada to undertake advanced research projects in their area of interest.

Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Brad Turner visited the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Tuesday, Jan. 31, to discuss expanding opportunities for students with disabilities and to bring awareness to career paths in early intervention, child and family studies and social work.

Magical medicine: UTC professor explores palm and face reading as diagnostic tools in Middle Ages

Palm and face reading were tools used by physicians in the Middle Ages, “a way for physicians to understand on the outside of the body what is happening on the inside of the body,” said Dr. Kira Robison, associate professor of history at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
